I will say more things later. They will be fabulous and amazing. For now, I need more sleep. And macaroni.

***PLEASE GO TO THIS WEBSITE--
HELP U.S. CHILDREN
and send a letter to YOUR congresspeople asking that they support the SCHIP bill that is being voted on this week. SCHIP is a NON-PARTISAN organization that is up for reauthorization of money this week to help fund ALL of America's children, regardless of race, gender, or creed, with comprehensive health care (this includes physical, dental, and mental). This group is NOT the same as public assistance, and 90% of the people who use SCHIP are working parents who still can't make enough money to cover their children's health, or the benefits option has been dropped at their jobs. All you have to do is fill in your information and send it. (When I did it, it wouldn't let it go through until I filled in Address Line 2, so I just put "N/A" and it worked)***

That song is mine and Kim's drunken karoke song, but only in the sense that while we have discussed performing it drunkenly, we have yet to actually DO so. HOWEVER, I have slow-danced with my husband to it outside of our house by a fire right before we made s'mores (my FAVORITE) and had beautiful people over, so that more than made up for it. I love love love Gladys. And the Pips.

Naomi Watts is playing Draco Malfoy's MOTHER in the next two HP films. I am deeply disturbed. She has never seemed remotely evil to me, so this will be unsettling and possibly heart-breaking. Particularly in the last one. SPEAKING OF, I finished the book on the 21st, when it was mailed to me, and I am SO SO SO happy. I know I'm the biggest nerd. I have no shame. I rapidly read the pages like a crazed mania person. I. Had. To. Know. Who. Died. And I think the ending was quite appropriate, particularly since the ENTIREFUCKINGNOVEL was such a dramatic, depressing, monstrously huge epic.

& I am finished with HP-talk, you can now politely resume your normal lives.

(Two days until Savtastic adventures! I cannot, cannot, cannot wait!)

OH OH OH ANDDDDDDDDD Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell's son signed a letter of intent to play hockey at my college. Goldie Hawn is in my top 3 favorite females on the planet. This is very, very cool.

& knowing all the time you're still roaming the countryside

I'm trying to drown out whateverthefuck is playing upstairs at work with Hendrix. It's kind of working, except through my "Gypsy Eyes" you can still hear traces of "Get Low" and this is not a satisfactory experience for me, nor would it be for Mr. Hendrix, I believe. And I am at least somewhat of an authority.
Hmmm.

We celebrated Bastille Day! Did I mention that? Probably. I am at a loss as to what to put here, but I'm at the point in my working day when, after having already been here 9 hours and with 2 still to go, I am losing my mind.

It's. Almooooost. Oooooooover!

I actually enjoy my job a lot. It's just days like this (orientation for incoming freshmen) that are bizarre-o and pointless.

Next weekend we're going to Savvy (Savannah in Steph-speak)! To see Kim! & David! And behave like Merry Pranksters and Mr. Hunter S. and play in the ocean and wear glitter on our faces (I hope) and flowers in our hair (I hope) and zillions of more kinds of merriment (definite). I. Can't. Wait. Cannot, cannot.

OOOOHH, Harry Potter 800 comes out on Saturday. No lies, I've had mine reserved from B&N for months, but it's going to be mailed to me. HOWEVER, I am still planning to brave the crazies at Barnes and Noble at midnight, so my brother can pick up his and Sean and I can run around the store with Katrina and Skyface (her 2-almost 3!-yr. old). I don't think I'm dressing up, though that was the original plan, since my husssssband looks similar enough to said Potter boy to pull it off. I have no clue who I was going to be. Hermione or Luna. AND NOW, I sound like a huge nerd. SOOOO...good.

"Tel Que Tu Es" by Charlotte Gainsbourg is my faaaaaaaavorite right now. And a zillion Vanessa Paradis songs, who I am now completely infatuated with. I hope one day Sean and I can live in a little house outside of Paris with a garden and two beautiful babies (except really, we just want one), and Sean doesn't even have to be a super famous and amazing actor like Mr. Depp, just his super fabulous and amazing self. I am going through quite the French phase. It's nice to know my high school instructor did not completely ruin the country & lanuage for me, though GOD KNOWS she tried.

I think they are beautiful!:

muahahahahahahhaha...

Lucasology tells us that Sith lords always travel in pairs; there is always a master & an apprentice.

(The only picture program we have on this laptop is that Paint thing that comes with everyone's computer ever, so it isn't very nice looking)
MY QUESTION IS---WHO IS THE APPRENTICE?!

15 July 2007

for two weeks, I wear blue jeans and walk around barefoot..

I loooove Cactus Flower.
Love.

We half celebrated Bastille Day yesterday. I say half only because I forgot to mention that it was Bastille Day to everyone who came over except for Sean, but he's married to me, so he didn't really come over, you know. BUT STILL, it was an evening very well spent.

Finally got to see Harry Potter! I know everyone and their grandmother's aunt loves those books and films, and you can happily lump me in the group of everyone if that's the case. My friend Laura told me that Luna Lovegood reminded her of me (minus the shockingly white-blonde hair), and Sean immediately agreed upon viewing. The only thing I really wished they had included was all the doors spinning around the hallway in the Department of Mysteries, because it was entirely too easy for them to break in. ANYWAY.

Today has been an incredibly relaxing day, made for recovery. Good, good.

here comes the sun again (my subjects work!)

THIS, along with many other similar situations, is one of the biggest reasons I do not subscribe to organized religion of any kind, be it Christianity or Judaism or Buddhism or Hinduism or Islam or ETC. ETC. ETC. The whole "my religion is more legit than yours" mentality is nauseating.

We saw Barack Obama speak yesterday! Twas amazing. I have pictures which I will put on here soon. He's incredibly charismatic, even though he says mostly the same things you expect politicians to say, with a few hopes and unitys thrown in for good measure. But it was really cool, and I'm glad it's something I got to experience. They were taking copies of his book from people to have signed, and we didn't have one, so Sean handed a really old copy of Around the World in 80 Days (we brought it to read while waiting in line, also Children of Men and Living to Tell the Tale, Marquez's autobio) to the campaign manager, who just shook his head and said Barack was only signing HIS book. Then a guy working at the hotel B.O. spoke at took it from us and said he'd see what he could do, but alas! the book was returned to us unsigned. They had to hand all the books individually to the campaign manager, so I guess he saw it and figured we were just messing with him. It sucks, because you know Obama would've dug that shit, getting handed this ratty copy of a book not even remotely related to his campaign, instead of his nice, glossy, hardback book he authored. Oohhhh well.

ALSO, blogger won't let me put subjects on my posts anymore. I have no idea why.

I love them:

The first goes to the poster for the film version of Love in the Time of Cholera. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS FILM. This book is my absolute favorite, it even tops Kesey, and I think the film will be equally stunning.

OTHERTHANTHAT, I just enjoyed the second picture a lot. Father of the Bride 1 & 2 have been on today, and Serendipity comes next, and then a Julia Roberts movie or two, and it is the greatest Sunday ever. I haven't watched mindless chick flicks all day since sometime in high school. Aaaaaahhhh I'm so glad I decided not to wait tables on the weekends.
